Email Collection Toolkit
Website changelog
Changes to the Email Collection Toolkit website, separate from application releases.
2026-10-10
- Display separate static Download Windows installer and Download macOS installer buttons beside Show all installers, without platform detection or JavaScript. Keep unavailable-asset notices and application update preferences.
2026-10-08
- Derive static Mac and Windows installer buttons from complete public releases, label previews separately, and include Windows certificate-trust instructions. Historical Mac-only releases do not expose an absent Windows installer.
2026-09-17
Reconcile local PST/OST support, partial Apple Mail handling, implemented processor GUI controls and backup requirements for manual identity data.
Document the worldwide date-search window on Advanced, including the Boston example, Before/After boundaries, accepted date formats, and overlapping daily results. Link from Searching and describe role-aware name and date completion.
2026-09-16
- Add the plugin-system page and a graphic of the proposed container, message, and content processor DAGs, clearly distinguished from implemented plugins.

Make all banner lettering selectable HTML over text-free artwork, reflow it on small screens, and change the tagline to "Email has a history. Keep it". Keep sizing compatible without container-query units and preserve copyable word spacing across desktop and mobile layouts.
Allow the local preview to restart and rebuild using its generated output directory.
Replace the keyboard clipart with the supplied horizontal photograph, flow it below the story text, and credit Image Catalog on Flickr with its CC0 link.
Restore the approved cover artwork with joined, diverging rainbow streaks, replacing the repeating rainbow arcs. Preserve the complete supplied banner and place readable introductory text and links below it.
Complete the Email Collection Toolkit name and repository-link update.
Add Searching, link the homepage capabilities and preservation standards, and show real search/import interfaces using synthetic mail.
Replace the keyboard artwork with credited Wikimedia Commons clipart and old-brand Gmail captures with explicitly labeled setup illustrations.
2026-09-09
- Introduce the Email Collection Toolkit website identity and stacked-envelope application icons; preserve Gmail setup and Advanced navigation, responsive access, and equal personal and archival use cases. Validate Zola TOML before builds.
2026-09-08
- Keep all navigation links visible on narrow screens, including Gmail setup and Importing. Links wrap instead of being hidden according to their position.
2026-09-07
- Corrected the home page, curation workflow, and use cases to describe BagIt 1.0 and Mailbag 1.0 as the native storage format of email archives, not a separate export format. The archive itself contains MBOX files, metadata, and SHA-256 integrity information. This is a wording correction, not a storage-format change.
- Renamed the curation stage from "Export and verify" to "Verify and share."
- Added an About page with information about Simson Garfinkel, links to his website and GitHub profile, and a link to the project repository.
- Added this website changelog and linked it from About.
